Cosplay: Assassin’s Creed – Fabric Acquired

As the sun sets on this night of hallows, I am sitting at my computer to write of my joyous journey of costume purchasing while listening to the popular-Halloween flick The Nightmare Before Christmas.  No, I am not dressed up like I have been in the past years.  However, I did treat myself to some fantastic-fabric finds for my upcoming costumes.

Assassin's Creed Sketch

Assassin's Creed Sketch

Seen here is my amazing talent of drawing; I’ve been known to impress a child or two.

This is the basic plan of the new Assassin’s Creed costume.

It is inspired by Ezio Auditore’s various outfits in the Assassin’s-Creed-gaming franchise.  Although the sketch is very white and red dominate, there will be portions of gold and brown to help break up the two colors.  Additionally, I will be wearing my new favorite leather boots with gold-ribbon laces.

This time I’m making a front slit and will fashion it after one of Ezio’s first outfits.  The dress will remain white, but will be strapless this time -with the exception of the off-the-shoulder cape.  My hope with this new design is to accent my body more appropriately.  Through segmenting the front with three different-length pieces, I should be able to achieve a much more lean and tall figure than the previous costume.

The corset will be white as well, and I will place piping over the locations of boning to recreate Ezio’s red striped shirt.  The busk I plan to use for this will have gold on it to add a bit of “femininity” and separate the red and white.  Additionally, I’ve chosen an over-bust corset this time to keep my torso long and not shrunken (I will most likely avoid under-bust corsets from now on).

The hood I will reuse from the first costume.  I will make some minor adjustments and I am still debating on making the shoulder pads.  I may have to flip a coin to make that decision.

While the sketch shows two flapping pieces in the back, they will not exist.  Instead, the waist adornment will be a simple wrap-around with Velcro.

Now, we commence to the fabric haul!

On the left is the fabric for the dress & cape with lining. On the right is the fabric for the corset with lining.  So far the prospects of this costume is going nice and smooth.  Josh & Josh are helping me with making some new weapons to have for conventions and photos.  I will most likely have a set to pick from throughout the convention’s day: knives, halberd, vambraces with knives or a gun.  I will most likely have a difficult time picking my weapon for the time, so I may have to play Rock-Paper-Scissors with the weapons.

That is all for this adventure.  I just saw something out of the corner of my eye, so I will be scaring myself the rest of the evening.

Happy Halloween!
